History: Al was born in Arlington and moved to Alabama with his family at a young age, shortly after his sister was born, because of his father's work. Al was driving home from school one evening after a basketball game. His best friend and teammate, Josh, Josh's girlfriend Katherine, and his sister, both of whom were cheerleaders, were in the car with him. It was nasty out and the roads were very slick, so it was easy for them to run his car off the road and into the backwoods. Everyone survived the collision in tact, but it would be the ordeal that followed that would devastate them all. The truck that ran them off the road was full of drunken members of the Friends of Humanity. They wanted to congratulate the team's all-stars properly, by beating some sense into Joshua and get him to stop going out with a black girl. They beat both Josh and Al within an inch of their lives and then proceeded to rape both girls while the guys were helpless to do anything about it. Lying on the ground, doubled over in pain, Al's one desire was to be able to stop this, to be able to protect his friends, and this subconscious desire caused his flesh to transform into its organic metallic state for the first time. Identifying him as a mutant, the FoHers proceeded to beat not only Josh, but also the girls to death while Al watched slipping in and out of consciousness. When he awoke the next morning, he was hanging from a tree by a noose stripped of all his clothes, still in his metallic form, the cold bodies of his friends sprawled out beneath him, with the words "mutie scum" carved into their chests. Al panicked. He had no idea what to do, so he started frantically clawing at the noose. He toar through it easily, and then scrambled over to the corpses and took pulses with shaking hands though he knew they were dead. He started running, running as fast as he could trying to escape what had happened. He eventually came across an oncoming car. His first impulse was to flag the car down and get help, but then he realized the inherant flaw in that, he was obviously a mutant and a naked one at that. Unfortunately for him, the police officers in the car notice that too as he ducked back into the bushes. He was arrested and later, when the bodies were found, he was charged for the crime by the rascist police officers at least two of which were the true murderers. He was wasting away in a detention cell waiting to die when his father, in grandiose Western fashion, sprung him with his truck and some rope tied to the bars. Al, Sr. didn't want to lose the only thing he had left, so, for both their own goods he sent Al away. He wandered for many months, extremely suicidal at times, but all through it all he was subconsciously making his way to north to New York, where he could better blend in to the big city and just fade into the background. Most of his life he'd grown up hearing the exploits of the X-Men, mutants that had survived this long, mutants he knew could help him if he could only find them. The X-Men at the time lacked what Alloy needed to help him, so he left and soon found himself with the students of Generation X. He enrolled himself in their academy in the hopes that Generation X would do for him what the X-Men could not. Alloy's experiences with Generation X earned him the control he had craved. This being all that he really wanted, he left the academy. He returned home to find that in his absence the Friends of Humanity had been removed from their positions of authority by a new police chief and district attorney and he was free to resume his life.
